Ex-Wyeth Head Out Of The Running For Sanofi CEO Gig

Earlier this year, Sanofi terminated former CEO Chris Viehbacher. Since his ouster, the industry has been waiting to see who will be named his replacement. Serge Weinberg is acting interim CEO and chair of the company during this time.

 

Rumored candidates for the top spot include Olivier Bohuon, of medical device maker Smith & Nephew Plc, Christophe Weber, current chief operating officer of Japan-based Takeda (TKPYY), Eric Cornut, chief ethics officer of Novartis AG (NVS), and Olivier Brandicourt, director of healthcare for Bayer AG (BAYZF). Another possibility included former Wyeth CEO Bernard Poussot, but Roche announced recently that he was joining its board.

 

Meanwhile it appears that the cause of Viehbacher’s dismissal is complicated and it is making the hiring of the new CEO complex.
